Our Heritage
In 1911 Charles J. Precourt began
a career as a builder and stone architect in the Boston area.
His construction business focused on slate roofing, elaborate
stone installations and marble floors for some of the most prestigious
homes around the city.
After WW II the business evolved away
from hands on construction and concentrated on the supply and
fabrication of a wide variety of natural stone products for
the building trade. We brought in granite from Vermont, fieldstone
from Connecticut, bluestone from New York and Pennsylvania,
for the post-war building boom. In 1953 we moved to our current
location in Sudbury, Massachusetts.
In the 60’s, Charles J. Precourt & Son,
Inc. began serving residential customers as well as builders
and tradesmen. Since then, we have worked closely with many of
the areas best masons, landscape architects and building architects
to produce some of the finest artisan stonework in New England.
During the 80’s we expanded our
capabilities with forklift and crane equipped delivery trucks,
allowing our drivers to place large stones and pallets on the
job site.
The computer age has revolutionized
our design and fabrication capabilities. Computer aided design
and computer driven fabrication equipment has allowed us to add
unparalleled precision to the most elaborately designed project.
Our skilled fabricators combine computer directed cutting tools
with old world craftsmanship, producing unique stonework for
any application.
Our 5-acre yard in historic Sudbury,
Massachusetts houses our office, outdoor displays, fabrication
facility and storage area. Four generations has taught us the
beauty, durability and character natural stone brings to construction
is unmatched by any other building product.
